Spead the word...

Many times when our new husbands and wives enter our lives, they need to accept another love that is already there. A lot of us have pets and they are a huge part of our lives. Some may not want these loved ones absent from our most important moment of getting married. There are many things you can do to allow your pets to be smoothly included in your wedding and not have the event turn into a disaster. Let's talk about how you can have a pet friendly wedding!

First things first, some people may be allergic to pets and this does have to be taken into consideration when you're thinking of including your dog, cat or other pet in the wedding activities. The last thing you want to do is have sneezing guests that are miserable the whole time they are at your wedding.

Taking these guests into consideration, you may want to plan an outdoor wedding so that the pet dander does not become an issue if trapped indoors. Continuing on pet dander, the next thing you want to make sure of is that pet fur does not get caught in fabric chairs, couches, and so on. You may want to choose wooden chairs and benches so that way the fur can not be caught. Next, designate an area where pets will be kept out in the open and in sight, but still away so not to disrupt the wedding ceremony. If the pets are sociable and used to being around other pets, allow the pets to play together. Perhaps a large play pen or if the pet is leash trained, the owner may want to keep the pet sitting with them. You should ask anyone that has a pet present at the wedding to sit towards the back and away from anyone that may have allergies.

Next, not only will you have to plan a special meal for your human guests, you'll also want to make sure there's plenty of food and water for any pets present. Although this one may be a bit tough, you may want to designate only certain types of animals be allowed to attend the wedding activities. For instance, if you have a dog, perhaps only allow guests that also have dogs. There will have to be a set of guidelines. Obviously you will not want aggressive pets present that may possibly disrupt any part of the event. I'm sure you are not going to want to walk down the aisle to pets fighting in the background. So, set guidelines so that guests can enjoy having the pets present, instead of regretting their decision to attend your wedding.

And last but not least, it might also be a fun idea to incorporate your special critter into the wedding ceremony. Although cliché, it might be a cute idea to train your little terrier to walk down the aisle as the flower girl, or ring bearer. There are many ways you can include your loved one in your special day, it just has to be done tactfully to allow your guests to enjoy your exceptional day as much as you will!
