Danny Manning and Ron Harper were invaluable to the team in 1980s; they led the team to many playoffs. But as Brown left the club in mid 1990s, they crashed to the bottom of the Pacific Division.

The 2005-06 season was a turning point for the team's overall image. But they failed to keep the mark in the next season, finishing in fourth place in the Pacific Division and missing the playoffs.
