There will be a 20-foot waterfall in the lobby, and the amenities - two swimming pools, the full-service spa, a fitness center, an activity area for children, a staffed business center and two lounges, one with wine bar and the other with pool tables and plasma TVs - will be concentrated in an indoor-outdoor area on the building's 10th floor. Concierge services and a car with a driver will also be available. DETAILS In central Washington about 180 miles by car east of Seattle, this project of 40 condominiums is just off the eastern shore of the narrow, 55-mile-long Lake Chelan, one of the deepest freshwater lakes in the country. It is in a valley with apple and cherry orchards - and more recently a handful of wineries - that has become increasingly popular among second-home owners from the Seattle area. The project's one- to three-bedroom, 604- to 1,315-square-foot units will be in a four-story building, and they will be sold in quarter shares. Owners will be granted 13 weeks of use a year, though no more than four weeks will be available from June to September; those who would like more time can purchase additional shares. The condos will have decks, gas fireplaces, hardwood floors and plasma TVs. The main swimming pool will be heated and surrounded by heated concrete to stay open year-round. A small pool for children will also be offered, and there will be a fire pit nearby. A common building by the pools will hold a fitness area and the recreation room, which will include a pool table. There are restaurants in town, and the development will have an indoor-outdoor kitchen open to owners and used for catered events. Across the street from the project's site is a 65-slip marina. A nearby water park is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. There is extensive protected wilderness around the lake, and downhill and cross-country skiing is available in the area. The Pangborn Memorial Airport, 46 miles south in East Wenatchee, Wash., has flights from Seattle.

Breaking Ground is a weekly look at projects, planned or under construction, that include weekend or vacation homes.
