How To Get Rid Of Body Acne

There are many kinds of acne that exist and one of them is body acne. We all know that acne usually strikes on the face but seldom on the body. Imagine there are red spots on your body, or even worse when you are planning to go for a swim. This will definitely spoil your mood.

Body acne might seems harmless but it is painful to endure the suffering and find how difficult to cope with it existence. It is not only the physical pain but also mentally. We will eventually suffer from low self-esteem and inconfident about ourselves.

There are a few reasons that can be related to body acne which is hormone imbalance or over-activity of hormone, perspiration, excessive oil production from the oil glands, synthetic fabrics and tight fitting clothes. The fact is, body acne is actually quite common among adults and teens and the areas which are affected are back, chest and buttocks.

You might be wondering how we can actually deal with this kind of acne problem. Well, the treatment methods for body acne are actually quite similar to the treatments of facial acne. For a start, you can try to wash your body with salicylic-acid based soap or shower foam. You might want to apply some medication on the affected area with benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. Then, an alpha hydroxyl acid-based body moisturizer to keep your skin moisturized.

Topical antibiotic of medication for body acne such as erythromycin, clindamycin, Stiemycin or tetracycline can kill the bacteria that block folicles on your skin. Combination of oral antibiotics with tetracycline or tetrscycline can fight acne effectively. However, topical medication is not really the perfect solution to body acnes as some skin might get irritated by topical medications.

Phototherapy is a good alternative acne treatment to patients that are sensitive to topical medications. Sun exposure is known to be beneficial in up to 70 % of patients with body acne. With phototherapy, visible light in the blue range induces a photo-destructive effect on Propionibacterium acnes.
